Top : BAER
Brainstem auditory evoked potentials (BAEPs) are far field potentials
recorded from the earlobs or over the mastoids, referred to the vertex, to
auditory stimulations. BAEPs are generated by the successive components of
the auditory pathway, mainly the auditory circuits in the brainstem.
BAEPs are used for assessment of brainstem function in neonates particularly
premature infants; evaluation of hearing loss in adults; screening test for
acoustic neuroma; intraoperative monitoring of brainstem function during
posterior fossa surgeries.
